There’s a lot of reality TV out there, but one of those I steadfastly watch, is Project Runway has one of the winning formulas: Fashion, ranging from utterly fabulous to WTF is that??, it’s got a challenge and a prize that is worth fighting for and makes sense (a r/s with Tila Tequila? Paris Hilton’s BFF? You gotta wonder at the people who compete on these shows) and to round up, it’s got a whole host of characters for the necessary drama.
So Season 5 starts amidst it’s own drama as the last season to be shown in NY on Bravo before hopping over to Lifetime and LA. Marketing has been lacklustre to say the least, and there’s that completely spoilerific move of posting all the episode summaries and guest judges right to the end. (don’t click that link if you don’t want to be spoiled!) One of my favourite things about PR was the anticipation of seeing whether they were going to do a weird challenge that week. Ah well.
But anyhow, I faithfully caught Season 5’s debut episode, and here’s my react. Be warned! I’m nowhere a fashion guru but I know what I like and I don’t, even if you don’t agree with me!
Created by Joss Whedon, better known as the guy who gave us Buffy, Angel and one of my cult fav series Firefly! In summary, it’s a mini online musical about an ‘evil’ super-villian wannabe as he tries to (in this order)
Take over the world
Beat his arch nemesis
Get the girl
It’s only going to be online till 20th July! So catch it quick before it’s gone! Acts II and III will be released on 17 and 19 July respectively.
Thoughts on Act I, spoilers if you haven’t watched it yet! highly recommended for a fun 15 mins online~
8 solid seasons of CSI which I’ve faithfully watched all the way through, and you tell me now that Gil is leaving the series as a full time cast member in Season 9? Seriously, what is CSI in Las Vegas without Gil Grissom and his one liners… The travesty!
Ah, Gil~
(found this pic here… thought it summed up one of the things I love about Gil Grissom best)
Some spoilers below in case you haven’t caught the end of Season 8 yet
The first thing that struck me when I saw the names of the main cast of Gossip Girl, was “gosh this really is a generation of new aged kids”. Of the 6 main cast (Serena, Blair, Jenny, Dan, Nate and Chuck), only Chuck (Ed Westwick) came away with a fairly traditional name. Blake? Chace? Penn? Taylor? Leighton? In a generation where kids get called all sorts of unfortunate names, I suppose this isn’t TOO bad…
Let’s take a closer look at the starlets of Gossip Girl.
(Thanks to imdb and wikipedia for trivia, and google for just being google)
Apparently, the Gossip Girl writers had intended for Season 1 to end a little differently! Thanks to this article and this article for the information (the latter has hilarious S2 ’spoilers’ which are so obviously untrue in the comments, but funny nonetheless).
Spoilers for the last epi of Gossip Girl! You know what to do…
Aired refers to the scene that was aired on TV. Original refers to what the writers intended at first before it was rewritten.
I watched Arrested Development first, all 3 seasons. It made me laugh and laugh, this absolutely dysfunctional and not very likeable but hilarious family. Then a couple of months ago I watched Dirty Sexy Money, about another dysfunctional family, though a lot richer and better looking. But the parallels between the families were there, so I decided to take a closer look…
Spoilers galore! Don’t proceed if you haven’t watched either show!
And on to episode 2! No interesting lists this time, instead we’ll talk about the family according to how they’re introduced by Nick’s VO (with lotsa sarcasm in his tone) at the beginning of all the episodes.
In this episode? As the title suggests, there are actual lions involved. Perhaps we should get some lion insurance, Nick?
