The Big Bang Theory – The History of Everything Opening Credits

I’ve just finished watching 2 seasons of The Big Bang Theory, which is a funny little sitcom that stars 4 bonafide geeks and their hot chick neighbour. Their characters are pretty neurotic, but so funny and as Hardison says, Age of the Geek Baby! I don’t get some of the references either, but it’s pretty funny.

One of the things I love about this show is the opening credits, which is a basic summary of human evolution since the Big Bang. It was sung by the Barenaked Ladies and is called ‘The History of Everything’. Here’s the full video of the song (The opening credits go up to the part with the first ‘Big Bang’)

Glee 1×04 – Preggers

It’s an unusual episode in that most of it revolves around one single song, Beyonce’s current hit single Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it).  It’s a Kurt centric episode, where the resident Queen in denial finally tells some important people (who already KNOW) that he’s gay. Also, Sue gets her own segment on TV and more pregnancy surprises!

Glee 1×03 – Acafellas

Demoralised by the Glee club (Rachel mostly) insulting his dance choreography, Will decides to start an Acapella group for some male bonding with his colleagues and to go after his dream of being a performer. Thankfully amongst the suggestions for Crescendudes and Testostertones, they decided to go with ‘Acafellas’.

The Cheerios spies in the team go to work sowing seeds of doubt, by getting Rachel to lead the Glee team into hiring the Hell coach of their main rival Vocal Adrenaline, leading Mercedes to believe Kurt, who’s obviously out and about gay, likes her.

Glee 1×02 – Showmance

So I thought Glee reacts would be a little different, where instead of me waxing on about the show, we’d have a look at the musical numbers and hopefully try to post as many youtube videos here.

One thing I’ve noticed though, it’s a Heroes ladies gathering of sorts! I see Jessalyn Gilsig who plays Terri Schuester, last seen as Meredith Gordon, Claire’s fiery biological mother, OCD Guidance Counsellor Emma is played by Jayma Mays who also was on Heroes in S1 playing Hiro’s love and super absorber Charlie Andrews, Quinn Fabray, Finn’s cheerleading girlfriend reprises her Bitch Cheerleading Captain role from Season 2 where she was the antagonistic captain in Claire’s new school who Claire and West punkd. Strange coincidence, no?

Leverage – Dysfunctional Family of Thieves

The Leverage team is made up of 5 people. You have the Mastermind Nathan Ford, his right hand woman, professional grifter Sophie Devereaux, Eliot Spencer the muscle, Alec Hardison, bonafide geek and hacker and Parker, a thief with a knack of getting out of tight spots.

All 5 (Nathan included) have a reputation for working alone and are the best in their respective fields, but after their first hit as a team, realize they actually like working together (they can pull off more elaborate scams, more money, more fun…) and despite a rocky start, that they like each other too!

They start to bond together, almost like a dysfunctional family unit. You have Nathan as the Dad figure – he’s the master planner and he keeps them altogether because while they might not trust each other, they all trust him. He’s the lynchpin of the operation and keeps them from each other or flying off the chain.

Sophie naturally is the mother figure. Her relationship with Nathan aside, she’s also the one who watches out for the others and talks sense into them when Nathan is hard on them. Eliot is like the big brother, gruffly taking care of the others even as they annoy him, Parker is the misunderstood middle child, crazy and offbeat and unpredictable while Hardison is the pampered youngest, attention seeking and loves annoying his siblings.

CSI:NY 6×01 – Epilogue

Somewhat odd that the first episode of the season is called ‘Epilogue’, but we catch up with the team a month after we left them being gunned down by machine gun fire at the end of Season 5. Who lives and who dies, and most importantly, whodunnit? Super spoilers below!

Glee 1×01 – Pilot

So I’ve been hearing about the show, but wasn’t really sure whether I wanted to watch it because it sounded like a serialized High School Musical (which I have to admit, I secretly enjoyed for fluff value, but no way do I want to watch it every week)

Then on TLo’s site I caught a preview… (No plot given away, but this is the showstopper song of the show, so might be considered slightly spoilery)

And I was hooked. I love musicals, really I do. I love that people can break out into song over just about anything. And the pilot looks quite promising, but even if it does go south, I’ll be tuning in as long as the songs stay so catchy!

Gossip Girl 3×02 – The Freshmen

Now THIS was a Gossip Girl episode. Georgina makes her return and gets more than she bargained for, Blair learns that you can’t buy friends in college, Serena has a mini meltdown, Dan and Vanessa somehow become the cool kids, and… where are Eric and Jenny and Lily (well she’s having a baby, but where are the others!?)

Gossip Girl 3×01 – Reversals of Fortune

Gossip Girl Season 3 comes just in time to take up the void of the mid season Leverage break, and what a scandalous return our Upper East Siders make at the end of their summer holidays. The Humphreys are now official UES-ers and living the dream, Blair and Chuck have not killed each other, yet… Nate’s found himself yet another controversial new girl and Serena… oh S! Her logic and train of thought defies reason. Welcome to Season 3 of Gossip Girl!

Leverage 2×09 – The Lost Heir Job

I can’t believe that’s not going to be any more Leverage till JANUARY. GOLLY, that’s a REALLY long time away! On the plus side, the fall season shows are starting, but I’m definitely going to miss the awesome fivesome, and not seeing cute Christian on a weekly basis…

In this episode, Leverage takes on a lawyer trying to steal an inheritance, and Sophie sends in reinforcements!
