Glee 1×10 – Ballad

it’s getting pretty hard to find video clips on youtube anymore! Probably Fox cracking down on copyright and all, but the visuals really do impact the song… anyway in this episode, Quinn and Finn get outed to their parents respectively and Rachel suddenly gets a weird crush on Will.

Endless Love (Originally by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross)

Will and Rachel end up as partners and Rachel suddenly discovers her love for Will. Er, right… the funny parts though are the thoughts of each character through the song, with Kurt’s comment about screwing Finn over if he takes the Diana Ross part from him, hilarious! If you actually do get to watch the clip, Will’s eyes of FEAR as he edges away from Rachel, also super funny!

 

Stand by You (Originally by the Pretenders)

Kurt is Finn’s ballad partner, and while Finn is unsuccessful in mustering up any feelings while singing to Kurt, he’s able to let it all out while thinking of his baby girll. Him singing to a sonogram though, was really kinda funny. His mum catches him and finds out about Quinn’s pregnancy, but takes it all in stride and supports him. Finn’s voice is nice enough, but I think Will, Puck and Artie actually have nicer voices than him!

 

Don’t Stand So Close to Me / Young Girl (Originally by the Police and Gary Puckett)

When Rachel doesn’t get the obvious hint of Will trying to fight off her crush, Emma suggests that Will sing it to her instead, and Will returns with a mash-up of Don’t stand so close and Young girl. Fantastic mash-up, which has both the ladies swooning. So much for your help Emma!

 

Having my Baby (Originally by Paul Anka)

When Finn started singing this, I wondered how long it would take for Quinn’s parents to catch on…

 

Lean on Me (Originally by Bill Withers)

For their finale, the Glee club sing this ballad to Finn and Quinn in support of them. The other powerhouse duet of Mercedes and Artie step in to take the leads, nice song.

 

Some thoughts:

• Wendy Pepper… the name seemed SO FAMILIAR. Then looking at the girl it totally struck me; have these people been watching project runway?! This girl really looks, acts and reminds me of Wendy Pepper from S1 of PR, omg, from the slightly hysterical thing to the glasses…
• Rachel suddenly having a crush on Will was kinda weird…
• Quinn’s parental meltdown was awfully sad. Glad that Will’s mum took her in. You see where all the holier than thou attitude came from though…
