CSI 9×01 – For Warrick

October 24, 2008

It’s like the never ending series, CSI, back in it’s 9th season, but will it be it’s last? The team is changing, first with Sara leaving, and then with Warrick’s death, and news that Grissom himself is moving on… man! What is CSI without Grissom! But moving on:

In last season’s cliffhanger, Warrick’s been shot in his car and is apparently dead…

But not really! He hangs around long enough for Grissom to run onto scene, drag him out of the car and cradle his bloody body as he makes a futile attempt to accuse his killer, before finally sputtering out.

RIP Warrick. You’ve come a long way since Season 1, where we first saw you as the gambling addict whose actions resulted in the death of 5 min CSI Holly Gribbs, to all around suave guy and Nick Stoke’s best bud, to charming Catherine and then suddenly marrying another woman (and apparently having a kid?!) to getting framed and ultimately being killed in the line of duty.

And show, though emo isn’t usually your thing, you sure do know how to make a girl cry. This episode was a serious tearfest all around, for the characters and me included. The little speech by Warrick in his custody video about Grissom being a father figure to him, and Grissom’s eulogy, oh my tear ducts.

I totally did not recognize Sara in the first 10 seconds she appeared in Grissom’s office. That hair AGES her. Straight is a better look on her.

Well that story arc was wrapped up pretty quick in typical CSI style – 40 mins and the murderer’s all apprehended. Now you know guys, don’t just wipedown the gun and the magazine, do the bullets too!

All those tantalizing shots of the CSI team altogether – the photo on Warrick’s dresser, the nice dinner they had in the Season 8 finale… I will miss Warrick. It’s been a great 8 seasons and we’ll just have to learn to live without him.
